Christmas 2013

Hello! I thought I would share a couple of photos I took on Christmas day. I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas, and if you don't celebrate Christmas, a Merry December 25th!

I will leave you with a cute story. This is my cousin, Avery, who hates having her picture taken. Knowing this, I told her that there was something in the tree she needed to see. She was very confused, but I went ahead and snapped a picture anyway. As soon as she heard the shutter click, she was screaming and had me tackled on the ground. She's still cute, though.

Thanks for reading!

Behind the Scenes: {Broken Angel}

Hello!

I wanted to share with you a "behind the scenes look" at my latest photo!

Before and After:

How I Edited: My first mission was to remove the outlet, window, and curtain from the photo. I did a very sloppy job of this because I knew that my next move was to create a vignette around the photo with the burn tool. I wanted to try to replicate the top right corner. After an hour of cloning and burning and burning and cloning, I was nearly finished. All the photo needed was a bit of contrast and it was finished!

Inspiration: Holy Water- Big & Rich

Concept: I feel like we all know a sweetheart who seems to be constantly taken advantage of and beaten up. I wanted this photo to symbolize an angel, a kind and gentle girl, who had been through Hell and back. She's been broken down to the core, but her halo still glows. I know my face doesn't do it justice, but I wanted to have the look of someone close to giving up. Someone who has grown numb from all the hurt. Someone who is hanging onto hope by a thread. I wanted the lights to represent her halo, but a few people have mistaken it for Jesus's crown of thorns. I tried to photoshop on wings, but that just wasn't happening.

Well, I hope you found this somewhat interesting!

What You've Missed

Hello! If you want to get to know me, go check out that "Meet Claire" tab up there. I'm just going to pretend that we're old friends and show you some of the pictures I've been working on lately.

iPhone shot, but I had to share this beautiful sunrise.

My sister's face carved out into the Chicago skyline daytime to nighttime.

Navy Pier Ferris Wheel in Chicago mirrored horizontally.

Last Sunday was a lazy Sunday. Tumblr inspired.

My little sister stealing home this summer!

Very beginning of the summer trying to be grunge ;)

It was the summer of self portraits, okay?

Another grunge self portrait? Sensing a theme here?

Switched it up with a swinging self portrait ;)

What do you think? I'm pretty sure my phone completely ruined the quality of these pictures, but oh well.
